REFLECTION
“Can’t you just imagine this scene? A huge crowd was gathered in Jerusalem for the Day of Pentecost, and Peter was preaching. He was pleading with the people to repent and turn away from the evil around them and turn toward Jesus. “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation,” he urged them. What happened? Three thousand people believed his message that day and were baptized. Peter was not content to hide in the shadows and blend in. He was determined to be an outspoken advocate for Jesus, even in the midst of what could be a very hostile crowd. After all, these were the same people, who a few days before, had been shouting to crucify Jesus. I want to show that same willingness to speak up for Jesus. I have no desire to blend into this corrupt generation. I want to stand out and apart. I want to publicly take a stand for my Lord and identify with the people of God.”
