1 Samuel 15:22
"But Samuel replied: 'Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.'"
REFLECTION
OBEDIENCE
In this passage, the prophet Samuel rebukes King Saul for disobeying God's command to completely destroy the Amalekites and their possessions. Instead of obeying, Saul spared the king and the best of the livestock, intending to offer them as sacrifices to God. However, Samuel makes it clear that obedience to God's commands is more valuable and pleasing to God than any ritual or sacrifice. This passage underscores the principle that true faith and devotion to God are demonstrated through obedience to His will.
