WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
Luke 12:51 (NLT®)
“Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!”
REFLECTION
JESUS GAVE US THE GIFT OF HIS PEACE IN OUR HEARTS
We often see Christmas cards emblazoned with the announcement of Jesus’ birth from Luke. “Peace on earth!” is usually in flowing text, accompanied by the beautiful artwork of an angel or a dove. But we don’t often see the end of that verse, and it changes the meaning significantly: “Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased’” (Luke 2:13-14 NLT®). Jesus gave us the gift of His peace in our hearts, and He died to make peace possible between humans and Almighty God. But Jesus did not come to make peace between the earth’s inhabitants. There will be contention until He returns to the earth because Jesus is the great dividing line between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness. There is no middle ground, and you can’t straddle the fence. Each of us will have to decide on which side of that line we will stand.

TIME TO DECIDE
JESUS GAVE US THE GIFT OF HIS PEACE IN OUR HEARTS
Begin to thank Jesus for the peace He offers us through the cross—peace in our hearts, and peace with our Heavenly Father. Likewise, thank Him for His righteousness and holiness that always wins against the kingdom of darkness.

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Your Son. The world is not my friend—I accept my assignment as an ambassador for Your Kingdom. Give me wisdom, boldness, and courage to honour You with all my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Proverbs 18:24
"Consider carefully what you hear," he continued. "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you — and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him."
Mark 4:24-25
"Whenever possible, turn all the bad things you hear about others into good things. And Jesus will do the same for you when Satan accuses you."
