WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
Hebrews 1:1-2 (NIV®)
“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.”
REFLECTION
JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, REVEALING HIS FATHER TO US
The prophets were a diverse group who brought messages from God of coming blessing, hardship, and judgment. But their intent was always the same: to help God’s people understand His character. Then came Jesus! A son is uniquely equipped to know and help others understand his father, and that is what Jesus did. He was the Son who would reveal His Father to us. It was that language that made the religious establishment so nervous. They could talk about God as Creator and Deliverer. They could talk about their history and all the things God had done for their people. But Jesus talked about God as His Father, and He said His Father wants to welcome us into His family, too. Don’t ever think Almighty God is a distant and uncaring Creator. He is a loving Father who wants a close, personal relationship with you.

Heavenly Father, thank You that, because of Jesus, I can call You my Father. Help me respond to You in such a way that our relationship will flourish. I want to know You more fully and present Your character in every aspect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
