WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY

Proverbs 3:11-12 (NLT®)

My child, don’t reject the LORD’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the LORD corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.

REFLECTION

WE BENEFIT FROM ALL LOVING DISCIPLINE ESPECIAL FROM GOD

None of us enjoys being disciplined. I imagine as children, each one of us, at some point, was sure our parents only wanted to keep us from having fun and make us unhappy. But have you ever been around children who have not had the benefit of loving discipline? Now, that is a miserable situation—for the children, the parents, and anyone who comes in contact with them. Despite what they may think, children’s lives are not better when they say and do whatever they desire without guidance. Similarly, a life without God’s discipline is not a blessing. We make mistakes, and we’re going to mess up in ways that affect our own lives and the lives of the people around us. God wants to help us avoid that. So, accept His discipline with humility and gratitude.

BE GRATEFUL FOR DISCIPLINE

WE BENEFIT FROM ALL LOVING DISCIPLINE ESPECIAL FROM GOD

THINK ABOUT IT

God corrects us with the heart of a loving Father who wants the very best for us. It’s as simple as that.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I am grateful for Your love and discipline, which invites me to grow up, mature, and stand in places of strength and wisdom on Your behalf. May I have the determination and courage to cooperate with You more each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
