WORD FROM THE HOLY BIBLE FOR TODAY

Hebrews 12:1 (NIV®)

“Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

REFLECTION

LAY ASIDE WHATEVER HINDERS US

I like the vivid imagery of a sporting event with throngs of people gathered to watch the competition. You’ve seen a track meet with the runners focused and waiting at their starting positions. They’ll be dressed in aerodynamic clothing and shoes specially designed to give them every advantage in that event. One thing you will not see is a runner pulling a suitcase around the track. We understand that baggage is a part of their journey, but they have put it aside and will not allow anything to hinder their success. Such is the race of life. We are called to lay aside whatever hinders us. The race before us will not always be easy. But we can be encouraged because we know we do not run it alone.

WE DO NOT RUN ALONE

LAY ASIDE WHATEVER HINDERS US

THINK ABOUT IT

We are called to run on the legacy of faith that precedes us and with the wind of the Holy Spirit at our backs.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, awaken me to Your purposes as never before, and open my eyes to Your activity. Help me lay aside every distraction and turn away from anything that hinders my participation and momentum in Your Kingdom. May I be faithful to Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
