WORD FROM THE HOLY BIBLE FOR TODAY
Psalm 73: 3,17 (NIV®)
“I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. … till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny.”
REFLECTION
PRAY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HURT OR LET YOU DOWN, THAT THEY MAY KNOW THE LOVE OF CHRIST
It’s easy to feel resentful when we see wicked people prosper, especially if we are struggling ourselves. We may not admit it, but in our hearts, we probably think people who are wicked should get nothing but lemons in life. The writer lists his grievances against the wicked: They have no struggles, no illnesses, and seemingly are not bothered by the troubles that burden the rest of us. Everything is going their way! Like the writer, we wonder why those who are far from God seem to have so many good things in life. But then, he realizes appearances can be deceiving, and their final destiny is ruin and destruction. When we see someone who appears to “have it all” while living a blatantly sinful life, instead of feeling resentful, let’s pray. Let’s pray the person will come to Jesus and experience the joy and peace that a relationship with Him can bring. Let’s pray they will begin to use their wealth and influence for the Lord.

TURN RESENTMENT INTO PRAYER
PRAY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HURT OR LET YOU DOWN, THAT THEY MAY KNOW THE LOVE OF CHRIST
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9, NIV®)
Allen Jackson
Heavenly Father, I choose to repent of and lay aside envy, resentment, selfish ambition, and antagonism. Help me cultivate humility, gratitude, and submissiveness to become a selfless peacemaker and a light to those You are calling into Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
