The first command Jesus gave was – Repent

November 2, 2019

Bible Teaching for Today

“From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."”
  • Matthew 4:17
Repentance is a continual attitude of a humble and sorrowful heart towards God and others. It begins with changing our thinking to agree with God about what is right and what is wrong. Repentance is a change of mind, emotions and direction. Repentance is the foundation of the new life in the presence of our Holy God whom we must approach with true humility and reverence.

Repentance is recognising that God and others are actually responsible for the achievements in our lives and that develops true humility. Failing to recognise that principle develops arrogance and pride in our character.

  • Nelson Mandel
“The cross is the greatest example of humility and devotion in the universe. Jesus put our needs ahead of His own. He considered us more valuable than Himself.”
  • Chip Ingram

  • Mother Basilea Schlink
