The 5th command Jesus gave was – Honour God’s Law

November 6, 2019

Bible Teaching for Today

“"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”
  • Matthew 5:17-18

Comment about this command

“A kingdom has three essential elements: a king, the king’s Laws, and citizens who obey these laws.

The laws of God’s kingdom are found in the Old Testament and expounded in the New Testament. They will not be changed until the end of the age. The law is the world’s greatest statement on real love. It is giving to others’basic needs without having any motive of personal reward.

Honouring God’s laws develops true love in our carriage to and diminishes selfishness.”

Quotes for Today

“We are what we believe we are.”

Mother Basilea Schlink’s Attitude for Today

"Bear with special love those you find difficult to get along with. And in your sin and weakness you can be assured of God's special love."

Proverb for Today

“How hard it is to find a capable wife! She is worth far more than jewels! Her husband puts his confidence in her, and he will never be poor. As long as she lives, she does him good and never harm. She keeps herself busy making wool and linen cloth. She brings home food from out-of-the-way places, as merchant ships do. She gets up before daylight to prepare food for her family and to tell her servant women what to do. She looks at land and buys it, and with money she has earned she plants a vineyard. She is a hard worker, strong and industrious. She knows the value of everything she makes, and works late into the night. She spins her own thread and weaves her own cloth. She is generous to the poor and needy. She doesn't worry when it snows, because her family has warm clothing. She makes bedspreads and wears clothes of fine purple linen. Her husband is well known, one of the leading citizens. She makes clothes and belts, and sells them to merchants. She is strong and respected and not afraid of the future. She speaks with a gentle wisdom. She is always busy and looks after her family's needs. Her children show their appreciation, and her husband praises her. He says, "Many women are good wives, but you are the best of them all."

Word from Scripture for Today

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour..."
  • Isaiah 43:2-3
