The 6th command Jesus gave was – Be Reconciled

November 7, 2019

Bible Teaching for Today

“"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.”
  • Matthew 5:23-24

Comment about this command

“Reconciliation means “to change thorough”, “to return to favour” and “to bring back a former state of harmony”. It also requires us to understand three factors that need to be dealt with so that reconciliation can take place. They are: – pride, anger, and what has been destroyed in our spirit, or in the spirit of the one we have offended.

Knowing and doing what both God and others are expecting develops in our character responsibility. Failing to respond to this command develops in our character unreliability.”

Quotes for Today

“Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine- freedom- and a little flower.”
  • Hans Christian Anderson

Mother Basilea Schlink’s Attitude for Today

"Take care that the salt of love is not missing from your words and actions. It is like a nugget of gold that will weigh much when your words and deeds are weighed in eternity. So take care that it be found in all that you say and do."
  • Mother Basilea Schlink

Proverb for Today

“Charm is deceptive and beauty disappears, but a woman who honors the LORD should be praised. Give her credit for all she does. She deserves the respect of everyone.”
Proverbs 31:30-31

Word from Scripture for Today

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour..."
  • Isaiah 43:2-3
