Thought for Today

“"After breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of John, do you love me?'Yes, Master, you know I love you.'" (John 21: 16)

The Lord asked Peter three times if he loved him. I think that the Lord asked Peter three times because he denied Him three times. Peter was very rash with his mouth. At times he said things without thinking. He said he loved God and would even lay down his life for him. But when they arrested Christ, he became afraid and denied Christ.

Every time we fail to give God first place in our life, we deny Him.

I think that we live in a time that the word "love" is really not understood. We hear people say all of the time that they love their job, love their house, love their dog, love to go shopping.

But what does it really mean to love? Christ used the Greek word agape in the above mentioned scripture. This type of love is constant, unwavering; it seeks the welfare of others first. This is the God kind of love.

Love is an action word. Love is not a feeling. We are commanded to love even though people have mistreated us. We are commanded to forgive. We are commanded to give our lives in the service of Christ.

There are many times in my life where people have hurt me and I have become angry. But God commands me to forgive them and treat them like God would treat them. My question to you is how many times have you mistreated others? How many times have you held resentments and anger? How many times have you asked God to forgive you for the same thing every day?

I don't think Christ wanted to suffer the pain and torture of the cross. It was not a pleasant experience for Him to go through. Yet, He endured all because He truly loves us. The next time you say you love God, ask yourself first how have you put love into action for Him!”

Quote for Today

“Even in the most beautiful music there are some silences, which are there so we can witness the importance of silence.”

Mother Basilea Schlink’s Attitude for Today

"Do not sleep. There is no condition more dangerous than that of Sleepiness. Only when you are awake, can you wage a battle. Therefore, be on the alert and fight, so that your life will speak of victory. For only when there has been a battle, can there be victory. And the victors, the overcomers, are those who will be shown great honour and glory when they enter heaven."

Proverb for Today

“This is how an unfaithful wife acts: she commits adultery, takes a bath, and says, "But I haven't done anything wrong!"

Word from Scripture for Today

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure YOU use, it will be measured to you."
