SANCTIFICATION
Quote for Today
“Together with a culture of work, there must be a culture of leisure as gratification. To put it another way: people who work must take the time to relax, to be with their families, to enjoy themselves, read, listen to music, play a sport.”
- Pope Francis

WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
"It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honourable."
REFLECTION
HOLINESS AND PURIFICATION
In the process of sanctification, God plays a pivotal role by working within individuals to transform them into the likeness of Christ. This ongoing work involves the Holy Spirit empowering believers to grow spiritually, mature in faith, and become more aligned with God's will. It's a cooperative effort where God, through the Holy Spirit, guides, molds, and refines individuals, enabling them to exhibit traits such as love, patience, kindness, and self-control. God's work in sanctification involves convicting individuals of their shortcomings, providing strength to overcome temptations, and enabling them to live lives that honour God. This transformation encompasses various aspects of life, including thoughts, behaviours, attitudes, and relationships, leading believers to become more Christ like as they continuously yield to God's guidance and empowerment in their journey of faith. Sanctification changes our old character into that of Christ’s character.

HOLINESS AND PURIFICATION
“Arrogance will bring your downfall, but if you are humble, you will be respected.”
Proverbs 29:23
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."”
John 8:12
"When people criticize you justly, respond like the publican, humbling yourself beneath your sin, 'God be merciful to me, a sinner.' Then you will go forth justified, absolved from sin and declared righteous by God for time and eternity."
