WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY

Acts 1:6-8 (NIV®)

“Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

REFLECTION

IS JESUS LORD OF YOUR LIFE?

Jesus has been resurrected and is preparing His disciples for His departure. This is prime coaching time for these men who have seen Jesus crucified and brought back to life. But here’s what they really want to know: “We’ve heard about Your Kingdom. But are you going to get rid of the Romans? They’re taxing us like crazy, and it’s pretty humiliating.” Jesus replies, “The Father has set times and dates, but they are not for you to know. But I’ll tell you this. In a few days, you’re going to be empowered to be witnesses for me.” What about us? Are we more concerned about being empowered by the Holy Spirit to be advocates for Jesus throughout the earth, or knowing every date and detail of God’s future plans?

PROVERB FOR TODAY

“There are four things that are too mysterious for me to understand: an eagle flying in the sky, a snake moving on a rock, a ship finding its way over the sea, and a man and a woman falling in love.”

WORD FROM THE HOLY BIBLE FOR TODAY

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved.”

MOTHER BASILEA SCHLINK’S ATTITUDE FOR TODAY

"Do not forget to set time aside daily to remember the good things that God has done for you. such a time of remembrance will bring you God's blessing and cause your trust in him to grow strong, so that you will more than overcome in your difficulties and struggles."
