WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
Joshua 24:15 (NIV®)
“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
REFLECTION
CHOOSE WHO WILL YOU SERVE, JESUS, OR SATAN?
I faced a watershed moment when I left home. When I lived in my parents’ house, I accepted their lifestyle and their rules out of respect. I had decided to follow Jesus when I was a young boy, but my faith felt like a part of their world, too. Even though I went to a Christian university, I was a young man on my own, and my faith would be put to the test. How would I live? Whom would I serve? What kind of man would I become? Joshua challenged the Israelites to get off the fence and choose where their allegiance would be. That is still our choice today. Will we follow the same path as our ancestors out of habit or respect? Will we do whatever the people around us are doing in order to fit in? Or will we follow Almighty God—personally, diligently—and lead our household to do the same?

Heavenly Father, I choose to serve You and give You first place in my life. Alone, I am powerless over the forces arrayed against me. Holy Spirit, help and strengthen me—I trust Your guidance. Jesus, I rejoice in Your provision for my complete salvation—You are my Rock and my Redeemer. In Your name, Amen.

“Charm is deceptive and beauty disappears, but a woman who honors the LORD should be praised. Give her credit for all she does. She deserves the respect of everyone.”
Proverbs 31:30-31
“... the Holy Spirit descended on him [Jesus] in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."”
Luke 3:22
"Do good to those who hate you. And God will pour out his love upon you."
