WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY

1 John 2:15-16 (NLT®)

“Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.”

REFLECTION

GOD’S WAY IS PERFECT

Each of us has our own perspective of the world, but that perspective usually has something in common: It revolves around “me.” We know how we feel and what we want, and we think we know what we need. We spend a lot of time trying to convince God to see life from our perspective. But that’s the opposite of what we should be doing. We should be asking for God’s help in seeing things from His perspective because a God-perspective can change everything. With His help, we can begin to see beyond our own circumstances, beyond our own wants and needs. With His help, we will begin to desire not just the comforts and rewards of this world, but the comforts and rewards of an eternity with Him in the next.

Heavenly Father, open my eyes so I might never be deceived by the things of this world and forfeit Your best. Help me honor You with my heart and provision so Your greatest blessings can come to me. I trust Your grace and faithfulness to meet all my needs. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
