“Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.”

PAUL WAS 5 TIMES GIVEN FORTY LAHES BY THE JEWS
Paul’s preaching often resulted in a riot, and he was tossed out of as many places as he was welcomed. He received thirty-nine lashes five times because forty were supposed to kill a man, and his enemies didn’t want to have his death on their hands. Yet, Paul was arguably the most effective ambassador the Kingdom of God has ever had, and we are still reading his letters today. His experience in serving the Lord was no bed of roses, yet he never stopped. We will probably never be beaten for serving God. But no matter what opposition we face, I pray we will never stop telling others about Jesus.
