WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
Hebrews 3:13 (NIV®)
“Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
REFLECTION
BE ENCOURAGED AND ALSO ENCOURAGE OTHERS. THAT’S THE TRUE WAY OF LIVING
I imagine several things pop into your head when you think of sin, obvious things most of us would agree on. But the writer of Hebrews broadens our scope when he says sin is deceitful. Sin causes us to believe something is true when, in fact, it is not. It makes us believe something is good and helpful when, in fact, it is bad and harmful. So, how do we avoid falling prey to sin’s deceitfulness? Encouragement! It is difficult to navigate life on our own. We really do need the support of people who know us well enough to know the journey we’re on and speak into it. Sometimes, you will be the one who needs to be encouraged, and sometimes you will be the one doing the encouraging. Sometimes, you’ll be both in the same day! I hope you’ll allow yourself to be encouraged and not hesitate when you have the chance to encourage someone else. It’s a great gift we can offer one another.

GIFT OF ENCOURAGEMENT
BE ENCOURAGED AND ALSO ENCOURAGE OTHERS. THAT’S THE TRUE WAY OF LIVING
Have you encouraged someone toward the truth and helped them recognize deception? If so, what did you learn?

Heavenly Father, I choose to turn away from sin’s deceitfulness and focus on the encouragement found in Your grace and power. Help me accept Your invitations, say no to selfish indulgence, and become a world-class encourager of those pursuing You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“From the fruit of their mouth a person's stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied. The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Proverbs 18:20-21
“To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
Philippians 4:20
"Exalt those who oppress you, honour those who humble you, and one day you will be raised to the throne of God as the "bride of the lamb" having done to others as Jesus has done to you."
