WORD FROM SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY
Acts 26:28 (NIV®)
“Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?”
REFLECTION
PAUL INSTEAD OF BLAMING HIS ACCUSERS, BEGAN TO TELL HIS JESUS-STORY
Paul had been arrested in Jerusalem and taken to Caesarea to protect him from angry religious zealots. King Agrippa was visiting the city and wanted to hear Paul’s story firsthand. Paul, rather than blaming his accusers, began to tell his Jesus-story. When he was finished, Agrippa asked him, “Do you really think you can persuade me to be a Christian in such a short time?” Standing before the king that day was the man who had been anointed by God to reach the non-Jewish world, making an impassioned presentation of Jesus from firsthand experience. Paul had left a sure thing behind to follow Jesus, and now he was asking a king to do the same. But Agrippa was unwilling to make the decision. Instead, he reverted to the safe, to the known. I urge you to say yes to every invitation God places before you. None of us can be assured that we will ever hear that invitation again.

Heavenly Father, thank You for opening my eyes. I choose to follow You and cooperate with Your Holy Spirit. May my life be a testimony to the grace and power of Jesus. I choose Your truth. I will say no to selfishness and yes to Your invitations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
