CAN THE BIBLE HELP ME IF I’M DEPRESSED?
Our God’s primary attribute is love, and because of that he will do anything in his power to free us from our own sadness. And although he won’t do it for us, he gives us the tools we need to surpass our sorrows.
“God, Who comforts and encourages and refreshes and cheers the depressed.”
- 2 Corinthians 7:6

3 Ways God Helps The Depressed
Strength
God “refreshes and cheers” you by answering your prayers when you pray for the strength you need in order to cope.(Philippians 4:13)
God is never too busy to listen to your heartfelt prayers: “God is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” (Psalm 34:18) Ever feel like you can’t even express your sadness into words? Don’t worry, whatever you feel in your heart he also feels.
Good examples.
One Bible writer prayed to God: “From the depths of my despair I call to you.” The psalmist dealt with his depression by remembering that God doesn’t burden us with guilt. He told God: “If you kept a record of our sins, who could escape being condemned? But you forgive us, so that we should stand in awe of you.”—Psalm 130:1, 3, 4,
Hope
God brings immediate comfort. Not only that, but he has promised to remove all troubles and pangs of despair in the near future. While acknowledging the help that God provides, you should also seek medical treatment for ailments such as clinical depression. Everyone has their own problems, just don’t forget that we have a benevolent God that wants to help you.
If we wait for the perfect answer, the world will pass us by.
