REFLECTION

“The first microwaves produced for home use were bigger but less powerful than they are today. They were still fast, though, and we used them to cook everything we could. But the best tasting food has never come from a microwave. That’s because the best things in life usually take a while. When you see God working through people like Paul and think, “I’d like to be used by God that way,” understand those outcomes probably didn’t occur overnight. Those outcomes emerged from decisions, choices, and behaviors that happened over months and years. Paul began with his face in the dirt and persevered in his calling through all kinds of trials. If you want to make an impact for Jesus, press on. Begin in your own sphere of influence and determine to be an unrelenting advocate for Him wherever you are. You may not achieve worldwide recognition as Paul did, but the Lord will be faithful to increase your territory.”

THOUGHTFUL RESPONSE

We live in a culture that demands instant gratification. Ask God for the discipline to resist that and the perseverance to endure and press on.

REFLECTIVE RESPONSE

Heavenly Father, I determine to be an unrelenting advocate of Jesus Christ everywhere You place me. Help me be faithful to You—obedient and willing to endure and persevere for Your purposes to be achieved in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
