WORD FROM THE HOLY BIBLE FOR TODAY

Hebrews 13:5

“… For he has said …”

REFLECTION

THE WORD OF GOD IS THE SOURCE OF ALL WISDOM

If we can only grasp these words by faith, we have an all-conquering weapon in our hand. What doubt will not be slain by this two-edged sword? What fear is there that shall not fall smitten with a deadly wound before this arrow from the bow of God’s covenant? Will not the distresses of life and the pangs of death, will not the internal corruptions and the external snares, will not the trials from above and the temptations from beneath all seem but light afflictions when we can hide ourselves beneath the bulwark of “he has said”?

Yes; whether for delight in peace or for strength in our conflict, “he has said” must be our daily resort. And this may teach us the extreme value of searching the Scriptures. There may be a promise in the Word that would exactly fit your case, but you may not know of it, and therefore you miss its comfort. You are like prisoners in a dungeon, and there may be one key in the bunch that would unlock the door, and you might be free; but if you will not look for it, you may remain a prisoner still, though liberty is so near at hand. There may be a potent medicine in the great pharmacy of Scripture, and you may yet continue sick unless you will examine and search the Scriptures to discover what “he has said.”

Should you not, besides reading the Bible, store your memories richly with the promises of God? You can recollect the sayings of great men; you treasure up the verses of renowned poets. So should you not also be proficient in your knowledge of the Word of God, so that you may be able to quote it readily in solving a difficulty or overthrowing a doubt?

Since “he has said” is the source of all wisdom and the fountain of all comfort, let it dwell in you richly, as “a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14. In this way you will grow healthy, strong, and happy in the divine life.

HE HAS SAID

THE WORD OF GOD IS THE SOURCE OF ALL WISDOM

THINK ABOUT IT

Hebrews 13:1-7 calls believers to live in a way that reflects the transformation brought by Jesus. Here are six key signs that His resurrection power has changed a person’s life: 1. Genuine Love for Others (Hebrews 13:1) • "Let brotherly love continue." • You no longer live for yourself but selflessly love and care for others, showing kindness, patience, and compassion—even when it’s difficult (John 13:34-35). 2. Hospitality and Kindness to Strangers (Hebrews 13:2) • "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." • A transformed life opens its heart and home to others, welcoming people with generosity and love, just as Christ welcomed us (Romans 15:7). 3. Compassion for the Suffering (Hebrews 13:3) • "Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body." • Jesus’ power moves you to care for the oppressed, the hurting, and those in need, praying for them and acting with justice and mercy (Matthew 25:35-36). 4. Purity and Faithfulness in Relationships (Hebrews 13:4) • "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous." • Your life reflects holiness and faithfulness, valuing purity and integrity in relationships, honoring God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). 5. Trust in God Over Money and Materialism (Hebrews 13:5) • "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’" • Instead of chasing wealth or security in material things, you trust in God’s provision and find true contentment in Him (Matthew 6:33). 6. Boldness and Confidence in Christ (Hebrews 13:6-7) • "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?" • A resurrected life is fearless! You live with bold faith, standing firm in truth, following godly examples, and proclaiming Jesus without fear of opposition (Romans 1:16). Final Thought: When Jesus changes your life, it shows—not just in words, but in the way you love, serve, give, and live with bold faith. These signs are a testimony of His resurrection power working in you!

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Almighty and Everlasting God, I come before You with a heart that longs to be fully transformed by Your resurrection power. Lord, I do not want to live as the world lives—I want to live as one who has been redeemed, set apart, and made new by the blood of Jesus Christ! Let my life be a testimony to Your glory, reflecting Your love, holiness, and truth in every thought, word, and action. Fill me with Your love, O God! Help me to love others as You have loved me—with a selfless, unwavering, and sacrificial love. Let my heart overflow with kindness, patience, and compassion, even toward those who are difficult to love. Teach me to forgive, to serve, and to put others before myself, just as Christ did. Make me a vessel of hospitality and generosity! May my home, my heart, and my hands always be open to those in need. Help me to see strangers as You see them, treating them with grace and honor, remembering that I, too, was once lost before You welcomed me into Your kingdom. Give me a heart of compassion for the suffering! Lord, let me never turn away from the oppressed, the imprisoned, the broken, and the forgotten. Teach me to stand with those who suffer, to pray for them, to encourage them, and to be Your hands and feet in their lives. Use me to bring hope where there is despair. Sanctify me in purity and faithfulness! Guard my heart, my mind, and my body from anything that dishonors You. Let me walk in holiness, honoring my relationships, my commitments, and my covenant with You. Make me strong in the face of temptation, and let my life be a light of integrity in a world of compromise. Break every chain of greed and materialism in me! Teach me to be content with what I have, knowing that You are my provider and my portion. Free me from the love of money, the pursuit of worldly success, and the fear of lacking. Let me trust in Your promise that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Fill me with boldness and unwavering faith! Let me live without fear, knowing that You are my helper, my shield, and my refuge. Give me the courage to stand firm in my faith, to speak Your truth boldly, and to follow the example of those who have lived faithfully before me. Let my life be a beacon of light, pointing others to the hope and salvation found in Jesus Christ alone. Lord, I surrender my life completely to You. Shape me, mold me, and transform me. Let the world see that I belong to You—not by my words alone, but by the way I live, love, and serve. May Your resurrection power be evident in me every single day, and may I never grow weary of seeking You. I ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, my risen Lord and Saviour. Amen
