WORD FROM THE HOLY BIBLE FOR TODAY
Hebrews 4:12 (NIV®)
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
REFLECTION
GOD’S WORD IS THE SHARPEST OF KNIVES THAT HELPS US CUT THROUGH THE CLUTTER OF EMOTIONS
Have you ever tried to use a dull knife to cut a tomato? You’d think a tomato wouldn’t be that hard to cut, but a dull knife will just poke a hole and make a mess. A sharp knife, on the other hand, will slice through it cleanly and efficiently. God’s Word is the sharpest of knives that helps us cut through the clutter of emotions and circumstances to process what is going on around us. It guides us forward when the path seems dark and uncertain. Moreover, it has never lost one bit of its relevance. It addressed the people who lived ten centuries before Christ, and it addressed the people who lived in the first century. It is still living, active, and addressing people today. We are living in confusing times. When you find yourself feeling as if you don’t know what to think or do, quiet your heart, and seek wisdom in the Word of God.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word—for its truth, wisdom, authority, and power. Help me treat it as my daily spiritual nourishment from Your hand. When I read it, I know it “reads me.” May it be an instrument of transformation in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
