Quote for Today
“Never believe that the so-called random events of life are anything less than God’s appointed order. Be ready to discover His divine designs anywhere and everywhere.”

WORD FROM THE HOLY BIBLE FOR TODAY
Luke 3:19 (NLT®)
“John also publicly criticized Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee, for marrying Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for many other wrongs he had done.”
REFLECTION
JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS ONLY INTERESTED IN CALLING HIS CULTURE TO HOLINESS
John the Baptist did not care about conforming to the religious establishment’s expectations, nor did he shrink back from his responsibility to call people to live according to God’s standards. He had publicly criticised the powerful ruler, Herod Antipas, for marrying his sister-in-law as well as “many other wrongs he had done.” You probably know the rest of the story. Herod had John imprisoned and then beheaded to please his stepdaughter. John’s life gives us a powerful example. He was not interested in religion as a theory, or as the basis for a social gathering. He was interested in calling his culture to holiness, even when it meant publicly criticizing a powerful politician and putting his own life in jeopardy. John didn’t avoid the reality of the events happening in his world. Instead, he spoke to them with God’s perspective. I believe that same kind of courageous intent will be required of us if we’re going to see godly change in our own generation.

Courage requires faith and trust in God.

Heavenly Father, help me honor You by courageously leading with my faith—at home, in my neighborhood, at school, at work, and across the checkout counter. May I be an ambassador for godly change everywhere I have influence, no matter the personal cost. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
