Quote for Today
“But it’s God who gives us the ability to do things, even to gain wealth; and we must remember that what we do is only successful when we do it – His Way.”

WORD FROM THE HOLY BIBLE FOR TODAY
Psalm 69:29-33 (NASB®)
“I am afflicted and in pain; May Your salvation, God, set me safely on high. I will praise the name of God with song, And exalt Him with thanksgiving.”
REFLECTION
GOD COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDS HIS CHARACTER AND HIS POWER. HE DOESN’T NEED OUR HELP!
Are you thinking what I’m thinking? This is irrational! The psalmist is afflicted and in pain. Why would he offer God praise and thanksgiving? I think we have it backward, and the writer had it right. We approach God with praise as if He has a big ego that needs to be affirmed. We talk to Him as if He is unsure of Himself and needs our encouragement. But God doesn’t need to hear our words in order to know who He is. He completely understands His character and His power. We are the ones who need to verbalize our praise and thanksgiving. We are the ones who need to be reminded of what we say we believe. We are the ones who need to affirm with our words what we hold in our hearts.

WE ARE THE ONES IN NEED
GOD COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDS HIS CHARACTER AND HIS POWER. HE DOESN’T NEED OUR HELP!
When the cares and burdens of life arise and threaten to overwhelm us, praise and thanksgiving are the remedy as they take root in our hearts and draw us closer to our Comforter and Deliverer.
Allen Jackson
Heavenly Father, open my eyes to Your great provision, even when I feel in lack. I lay down worry and anxiety, and I choose to lift my heart and voice in thanksgiving and praise to Almighty God—my Creator, Redeemer, Deliverer, and Sustainer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
